Below is a Grizzly bear autopsy. Animal weight was 100-120kg (220-264lb) Rifle was (one of my favorites) a .30-06, loaded with the 200 grain Partition at 2670fps. Range was 135 yards, impact velocity 2423fps. The shot was quartering away, entry high shoulder, exit high at the point of the shoulder. Because the spine was destroyed, the bear went down on the spot (instant kill) A detailed video can be found at the bottom of the .30-06 article.
Exit
Entry high shoulder
A fragment of the frontal core of the Partition. This is a strength of the Partition, shedding its frontal weight, initiating excellent energy transfer. Unfortunately no internal wound pics were included but the description of internal wounding was of violent trauma, more can be seen in the video.
Below are photos of a Canadian Black Bear shot with a .300 Winchester Magnum using the 200gr Nosler Partition bullet. The bullet entered high and slightly forward on the left shoulder.
The shoulder was all but completely destroyed.
Bullet penetrated vitals destroying lungs, traveling on to cause major damage to the liver, exiting out through back narrowly missing spine.
Exit wound beside spine.
