This 13 year old hunter tagged his first big game animal, a very nice bull Elk, using an old 7x57 firing a 160gr Nosler Partition, muzzle velocity around 2650fps. The bull was shot at a range of approximately 70 yards, he dropped instantly.
In the picture beneath you can see the bullet entered very high on the rib cage, clipping the spine. This explains why the animal dropped very fast.
Below is the exit wound angled quite a bit lower than the entry wound. After clipping the spine the projectile continued on and destroyed the top of the lungs, carried on through the ribs, coming to rest under the hide of the offside. A very good clean kill.
A very good result for a first time Elk hunter, well done!
