Frank VallichRe: RIfle SlingsTo conclude this thread the following observations. The RS3 sling provides a secure cross body carry allowing freedom of movement. Both arms are available for deployment for whatever task is at hand. An example is having the rifle available while walking with a 20 gauge while shooting grouse. THe BEST feature is the ability to drop to one knee and have stability. No need to insert the support arm through a loop as the sling rides up under the left arm and secures the the rifle into the firing position. THe sling is BEST utilized with side mounted sling/swivel/studs. This eliminates the requirement for a half twist of the sling. THe Latigo sling does not come close to providing the carry and shooting support. Good luck finding a better product available to the public at large. |

John SmithRe: RIfle SlingsI now have Garand cotton slights on my deer and elk rifles. They areinexpensive, heavy cotton with locks that are easily adjustable and stay put. They can be used as a hasty sling or loop sling. And ofcourse a carry sling. They are quiet and need an inch and a quarter sling swivels. Most come in an OD green. |

John D Hays - New MexicoRe: RIfle SlingsHere in the American West, many hunters have no sling at all. Rifles are carried strapped onto the backpack. Glassing, glassing and then spot and stalk. |

John SmithRe: RIfle SlingsI use a Garand sling on my 7mm08 Rem and also on myMauser 98 in 7x57. For both a hasty sling and a loop sling. They work great and are about $20 apiece. |
