Cor NepgenRe: 30 cal 168gn A-max projectileHi Bob,Well done and thanks for posting! I'm starting to save up for reloading equipment so I am very interested in the bullet selection people are using. South Africa is typically quite a while behind so think it may take some time for the eld bullets to get here. I'm tempted to start stock piling some A-max... All the best! Cor |

Bob MavinRe: 30 cal 168gn A-max projectileI think the 178 A-Max might be better.I've been using the 168 A-Max for 12mths in my 30-06 to cull a lot of Fallow Deer & a few Pigs with perfect results in close & out to 600m. I was surprised that the projectile exited on these two solid Deer! Small exit hole but the lungs were 50% destroyed. I'm off hunting the Red Deer roar this week, confident the 168's will do the job. Bryan WebsterRe: 30 cal 168gn A-max projectileInterestingly, my .308 shoots the 178 grain A-Max bullets into a one hole group (.25 to .375) at 100 meters when I can do things right. The 168 grains are great as well but not with quite the groups. All are under .5 inches on the bench though. It is a 1:12 twist so I was surprised it liked the 178 grain bullets. |
