Thomas KitchenRe: loads for 7x64hi Rodney and welcomeare you able to supply more info like what weight bullet your using? you might be able to use 7x57 max load data as your starting load with slow powder but you might want someone with more experience then myself to confirm that |

Nathan FosterRe: loads for 7x64Hi Rodney, as I wrote in the article, the case type used has a major impact on potential. Generally speaking, case volume is lower than the .280 Rem. Magazine lengths also have to be taken into account and may effect which burn rate powder you can use.I do not know which country you are writing from, your available powders, the type / age of rifle you are using, the bullet weight, potential COALs or the brass. The best advice I can offer is to use mid point .280 Rem data and work up from there. My reloading book teaches the reader how to work up to full potential for each individual rifle. This is far better than asking for a pet recipe which could prove either under powered or max / dangerous pressures in your rifle. |

Rodney MiddapRe: loads for 7x64Hi Nathan i live in Australia my rifle is a Tika lite i am using Norma brass and Barnes TTX 140 projectiles, i have Reloader 22 Winchester 760 and AR 2209 . I have used 55grs of win and 59 GRS of Reloader 22 with no problems which is just under max loads for the 280.I have been hunting in New Zealand 12 times and have seen a few 7x64 used by some locals but they have been using factory ammunition. I used a 30.06 Ruger and a 7x57 Winchester and had the 7 x 57 reamed out to 280 on one of my trips by a gunsmith in the South island,i loved the 280 but it was stolen so i replaced it with the Tika as it was 250 dollars cheaper than a Ruger 280 and it shoots better than any Ruger that i have had. |

Nathan FosterRe: loads for 7x64Sounds as though you have already worked up some load data. The one thing I would suggest is that you do try 2209 because of its temp stability, especially if you intend to bring the rifle over to NZ. But again, you'll have to work up loads based on what your rifle likes, reading the pressure signs by observing primers and primer pockets as opposed to any suggested pet load which can be quite dangerous (especially with Win 760 powder on a hot day). The 7x64 has a unique throat design in that rather than being parallel for some distance and then tapering down, it utilizes one long steady taper. This affects how bullets engage the lands and like all rifles, yours will have individual preferences as to which style of bullet it likes. |

Arve RingsbyeRe: loads for 7x64My favorite loads for my Mauser m12 in 7X64Hornady SST/Interbond 154gr, Norma 204, 54 gr Sierra GK 160 gr, Norma 204, 52,5 gr I`ve also tried other powders like Norma MRP, Vn160 and H4831sc, but get better speeds and more accuracy with Norma 204. You might have a look at http://www.norma.cc/en/Ammunition-Academy/Loading-Data/7x64/ |

Mike DavisRe: loads for 7x64trail boss is piece of cake to use, plenty of info out there on how to do it, biggest thing to get your head around is using VOLUME to get starting point, lee spoons make that a doddle. |
