john feyereisnI see that hornady makes a sst that is shorter, specifically for the 300 savage, i dont own a 300 savage but i have to wonder if it would be designed with lower velocities in mind, possibly making it usefull in a slightly downloaded 308win.Has anyone tried it? |

Thomas KitchenRe: 150 sst for 300 savagehi Johni have no experience with these. even if they make these with the same jacket thickness and everything else as the 308win design you might get more energy transfer because of the blunter ogive design. the 155gr amax might be a better option in a down loaded 308win. |

Nathan FosterRe: 150 sst for 300 savageGee Thomas, that's a nice interpolation along with an additional softer jacket option. It is good to see you guys reaching a point where you can estimate performance based on a sound understanding of fundamentals. And if the A-Max is too long- knock off the tip. This Savage SST is new to me also. Will be hard to determine major changes with the standard SST already being very fast expanding. But I am in full agreement with Thomas. |
