Hi,I thought I was going to go dry this year but we got a heavy snow in Arkansas and I decided to go hunting.
We had the 26,27 and the 28 then our dear season was over.
On the 27th I went out to the wood late in the evening and took a Small plastic bucket to sit on .
i had been sitting there about an hour and a half when i noticed movement off to the south and put my 10x Binoculars on the area and saw a doe . I Got turned around (had been facing the East and rested my Rifle (CZ 527 carbine,4x leupold and Federal Premium 60 grain Partions.
At that time the deer moved and i could see nothing but guts and back .
I wasn,t about to shoot so I continued looking and then i noticed several deer walking up to the area.
I finally found a Little opening to shoot(Old grown up logging road from about 35 years ago).
I wrapped up in the lightweight leather sling and rested my elbows on my knees (while still sitting on the bucket ) and pushed the trigger forward to set the trigger .
I held tight behind the shoulder about halfway up the deers body.
I pressed the trigger and watched the deer I had shot (at least I thought) run to the East and the other deer run to the West.
I sat there about 20 Minutes and slowly worked my way toward where the doe had been standing at the shot .
I got to within about 50 yards and sat down again and saw several deer working their way back into the area.
One of them gave me a good shot and I started to take it but I thought no I think I got the other one and did not want 2 deer to cut up in this freezing weather!
I watched as a couple of deer stopped and started looking at the ground and bobbing their heads slightly.
I have been hunting for better than 40 years so I recognized that they were looking at a dead deer on th e ground.
I eased my way to the area and stood and looked all around and sure enough there was a huge doe laying in the snow.
I then backtracked and found out the shot was takeen at a 145 long steps through the woods .
I noticed very very little blood on the snow and probably would not have noticed any had it not been for the snow.
The doe had run about 30 steps and fell.
The impact of the bullet was through the left shoulder and blew better than a 1.5 inch hole through her shoulder and then left better than a 2.5 inch hole in her ribcage and broke 2 ribs going in and the hole seemed more oblong than round indicating that maybe it was Tumbling somewhat ?
Then it left a better than 1.5 inch hole in her heart and a piece of the bullet must have came off or it was caused by a bone fragment and traveled about 8-10 inches toward the rear of the deer, leaving a little bit of bloodshot area.
the bullet then exited the offside ribcage leaving about a 35-40 caliber hole in the ribcage.
Now this is only a case of one BUT I was extremely impressed with this load on this size animal at this range. There was in fact very little blood BUT I have killed a lot of deer over the years and have seen many times that the only blood found was when I rolled deer over where they lay then plenty of blood !I dont put much stock in always having a good blood trail to follow.
I have a few Pics of the deer and the damage that I will post Tommorow.

Regards
Craig
