Mike OwensDoes anyone have any experience doing a detachable magazine conversation on a M700 BDL long action. Are there any GOOD after market options ?? I've asked google but nothing stands out. Will a DM internal length be different from the factory BDL length ?? I'm just thinking that it may be shorter and this will my max coal. Cheers in advance |

Hamish GibbsRe: Detachable magazine conversation kit for M700 LAAtlasworx in au also do the AI LA for an excellent price, I have a tikka SA version but not fitted yet(have to work out fitting tikka t3 into tikka m595) they both have the extended mag release which may be a pain while hunting, not sure what mag options are out there for the LA version but in the polymer SA mags the magpul offers a longer coal than the mdt. |

Mike OwensRe: Detachable magazine conversation kit for M700 LAHi guysThanks for your reply, what I'm looking for is something that will fit flush with the bottom of the stock as this is the balance point of the rifle and where your hand usually grips the stock when your craring it in one hand.. Do Remmington offer a conversion kit ?? I only need a 3 shot mag but like the idea and convenience of a detachable mag rather than the BDL floor plate and loading rounds from the breach. Bryan WebsterRe: Detachable magazine conversation kit for M700 LASorry Mike, thought those links might help. Actually I am not at all a fan of detachable magazines for hunting, and in the Remington 700 line none of my rifles have them and I have not seen any of that line of sporting rifles that do.The detachable magazines have a good following in the tactical and competitive arena more than people who hunt with Remingtons. Rifles that have magazones such as you are looking for can sometimes be a cause for frustration as well since those who like to seat their cartridges with thebullets near to or touching the lands often find the mag lengths are short enough that is a real task to resolve. Perhaps when Nathan has time he may be more familiar with this than I am. |

Mike OwensRe: Detachable magazine conversation kit for M700 LAHi BrianYes I was keeping the coal length in mind and I have a max coal touching the lands of 84mm and the max length inside the BDL magazine is 94mm so I have 10mm to play with. I was hoping that a DM conversation with the reduced length inside the DM would still allow me to seat the bullets out to the lands. I just wast to check all these things out b4 I head to far down the rabbit hole as Nathan would say |
