cleaning product that works

I have been using a product for the last 12 months or so that I thought was doing a good job at keeping my bore's clean, to the point that when you pushed a patch down the bore you heard a squeaky clean noise that had me fooled until I run out of the copper cleaning component that apparently is not really necessary except for bad fouling barrels

anyway a very good friend told me about a product he saw and tried at an Australian competition shoot that Tony Boyer of Shilen barrel fame was using,
but he could not get it in Australia,
I had some sent to me for my friend and myself and this is the result of what I thought was one of my cleanest bore's

the product is used patches only, no brushes
and on what I thought was a very clean bore
accelerator, wipe out then clean patch, repeat
"there should be another patch at #4 being accelerator but I misplaced it"
I am sure this product is not new to everyone especially those in the US but I had never seen it before and am very happy with the results

I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel but give a shout out for something that really does work

regards Mark

I have been using these for over a year now, and they do work very well. One must also remember that if you are shooting a lot of rounds at a range, you should run a wet patch or two down the bore before driving home. The main reason is to soften any carbon buildup so it becomes easier to remove when you get home and clean the bore a bit more to get rid of carbon building up yet leave the copper alone.

ABout every 200 to 250 rounds I also use JB Bore Cleaner or a paste of oil and Autosol on a patch to polish the throat area. Doing so will surprise a fellow at how much carbon can still build up there and it will affect accuracy unless it is removed. Only 6 to 10 passes in the three to four inch area from chamber to throat is needed then clean all the abrasives from the bore.

For several rifles I have now switched to BoreTek Eliminator and their Carbon Cleaner to compare the results. Seems to work just as well as the WipeOut combined with the Accelerator. These two rifles use highly polished 5R bores though, so cleaning is pretty darned easy.

I am also currently using Wipeout. It works very well.

It cannot perform miracles on heavy copper fouling factory bores (by miracles I mean removing the gloop in one short soak session). There are some that really gum up during the break in phase and take a long time to clean regardless of what product I test / use. But Wipeout does appear to work in an optimal fashion and does appear to act very quickly in what you might call a normal bore that needs to be defouled. In the very heavy foulers, I can leave it to do its thing while working on other aspects of the job such as taking notes from the previous range session or making up the next batch of test ammo. One has to be realistic about such things.

I also really like the spray foam version.

Sorry, I should mention that NZ folk can purchase these products from Reloaders Supplies.

Hi team,

A bit late to the party... What is the product? The picture I see is just of a cat as if the original photo has been deleted.

Cheers,

The product is Wipeout. Also comes with an accelerator option.

Per chance, the manufacturer just emailed me asking if I have tried their products. Was happy to say yes and that I am using it on a day to day basis. This is what I used in the Tikka break in vid.

Here is a link to a good video giving information on cleaning rifles using Wipeout/Patchout. Well worth your time.
