Brendon GreigHi Guys I am in the process of purchasing a Remington 700 SPS in 7mm Rem Mag and have sent a couple of Emails to Nathan who has Replied straight away answering my quires I dont want to take up to much of his time when there is the knowledge available on the forum. I were going to try the EDL-X bullits but Nathan has said the SPS's can be a little finicky with them and seem to prefer the EDL-M's so I will go with them Nathan told me Brass is a little hard to come buy in New Zealand at present and looking around on the net there doesn't seem to be a lot of options so was wondering what people would recommendMy options are Hornady at $226 for 100, Norma $202 for 100 and Winchester $170 for 100 Reloading from the start also means I can fire-form my cases as i run the barrel in and it will still work out cheaper per round than the factory prices i have found Thanks in advance for any help Regards Brendon |

Thomas KitchenRe: What Brass to get brasshi brendoni would go wincherster brass if you can get it, one retail actually lists it but its never in stock. for my 243 i found it almost more cost effective to buy loaded wincherster ammo then brass. next would be norma i run norma in my 308 norma mag and 270 and i find it good to work with. |

Chris MurphyRe: What Brass to get brassHi Brendon my preference is Winchester brass Norma tends to have thicker walls and im unfamiliar with hornady only resently started using it in my 308 after shooting out factory ammo. |

jasonRe: What Brass to get brassI use Hornady, and find it good.It is expensive to buy. I look for someone shooting factory rounds and buy there once fired stuff. I pay $1 each. |

Sebastian ShandRe: What Brass to get brassIf you plan to fireform brass before using it I highly recommend just buying factory ammo. For my 300 win mag I ended up buying Winchester xp ammo and shooting that on the range and reloading it. It worked out near the same price as buying new brass and mucking around loading fire forming loads etc.I use hornady brass in several rifles and it's pretty good as well but Winchester and Lapua are my go to with hornady not far behind |

Martin TaylorRe: What Brass to get brassWith my 300wm which is the closest to your 7mm (if that helps?) the Winchester brass has performed terrific though l have neck turned all cases. With the cost of components the factory loaded ammo may be the easiest way to go like Sebastian has said. My 2x batches of Hornady brass is a little soft in the 300 but still produces excellent accuracy and l use it with the lighter pills. It's faultless in all my other calibres, being my preferred in many. Traditionally, Norma is often very soft in the magnum cal's so l have always stayed clear of it. We have a shop here locally selling fired brass called Reloaders Haven and l know he has 7rm, but not sure on shipping it across? |

Bryan WebsterRe: What Brass to get brassNew WW brass has given me some issues this past year or so with my 7mm Rem Mag. (Had to skim a bit off most of them on the outside of the necks) In general, for reloading for most of my rifles, I tend to use a lot of Norma and some Hornady as well as PPU brass (in 7x57), and now in my 7mm Rem Mag, I think I will try more of the Hornday stuff. In my .308 I still have 500 Norma brass but as it wears out those will be replaced with Lapua brass. The Norma brass this year has been hard to find with the Lapua less so. After using some of the small fllash hole Lapua brass I actually thiough of selling all my other .308 brass...but have not done that. |
