Mark WhitakerI have completed the preparation of my Bell And Carlson stock for the 300 win mag and and am now starting on the action. I have action bolts for the 700 remington from Forster Production and mounted these and checked the fit in the stock.I was about to tape them with electrical tape when I had a brain wave (dangerous idea) and decided to put "Heat Shrink" on them instead. All is well and it fits perfectly with a small amount of clearance. Has anyone tried "Heat Shrink"? does it react adversely with the bedding compound? Mark |

Warwick MarflittRe: Bedding QuestionAs long as it's thin wall Heat shrink without the glue it might be ok. Although tapes probably thinner than heat shrink..... I'm sure that Nathan will know and if he says tape use it? |

Nathan FosterRe: Bedding QuestionHeat shrink is OK but you should also put release agents on the screw threads as well as the outer heat shrink so that the screw will come away, one way or another. |

Martin TaylorRe: Bedding QuestionUse it on every rifle l do.Its uniform as long as you heat it genitally wont stick to the compound bind to the threads etc. If you leave it just longer provides a slightly pointed tip aiding to guide into pillar (l fill the small hollow with Plasticine). If it stays behind after you have removed your blind donor & knocked out the action it will simply push out of the hole. As Nathan has said with release, l kiwi polish the thread & shaft before fitting. |

Nathan FosterRe: Bedding QuestionAre you saying Marty made a ....balls up?Haven't you ever stuck something down your pants to warm it up Dan? Actually I had an epic fail at this, working at the George in London. I worked many spots with our agency and would do the occasional shift at the slower paced George. The George was Shakespeare's hang out so it had a lot of history. That being so, we bouncers had to work a gate about 50 feet out front, this to keep any trouble well away. The downside of the George was that it was located near a get off bus stop point for Milwall supporters. Control at the gate was the key. One night it got so cold that my snack froze. I put the snickers bar down my pants (pocket!!) to try and make it edible (under a wool trench coat) but it stayed frozen all night (thermals must have created a barrier?). I'll never forget trying to eat that bar and finding it still frozen. |

Bob MavinRe: Bedding QuestionI asked my wife to put a babby Ferret down her pants to keep it warm, she said " what about the smell" I said "he'll get used to it, I did" |
