Nathan FosterHi Guys, I have finally managed to get my notes down into something readable. The final edit for the .375 family came out at 28,000 words so it was quite a mission. I have uploaded the entire family at once so that you can cross reference each of the cartridges. I hope the info serves you well.Special thanks to forum member Andrew Murray for working through the edit with me, Steph and I are immensely grateful for this thank you Andrew. https://www.ballisticstudies.com/Knowledgebase/.375+Holland++Holland+Magnum.html https://www.ballisticstudies.com/Knowledgebase/.375+Winchester.html https://www.ballisticstudies.com/Knowledgebase/.375+Weatherby+Magnum.html https://www.ballisticstudies.com/Knowledgebase/.375+Ruger.html https://www.ballisticstudies.com/Knowledgebase/.378+Weatherby+Magnum.html https://www.ballisticstudies.com/Knowledgebase/.375+Remington+Ultra+Magnum.html OK, off for a rest, completely spent. |

Nathan FosterRe: .375 Caliber research now liveThanks guys. These articles are never easy for me because after performing the research, I often find myself making statements that go against the flow of current (or popular) thought. The temptation is to find some middle ground of agreement to appease the 'experts' in the gun rags and so forth and avoid any negative feedback which could harm precious book sales. However, this would be a disservice to readers. Ultimately, it is better to just say what I want to say and be done with it. My hope is that if I can explain the various factors and performance in a clear manner, the reader will see things as they are, not how they are hyped up to be. Some things should be obvious. For example, you cannot take a lead sled into the field with you, therefore, sight the gun in yourself, otherwise it simply will not shoot to the same POI in the field. But when you get a bunch of folk teaching the opposite, suddenly, what should be obvious becomes abnormal. The same goes for gun design. We are getting nearer to the end of my original goal. After I have completed this first round of the knowledge base, I will need to start over and update it, though some detailed information will be left for the Cartridges book as we need some form of income. I cannot put into words what a mammoth undertaking this has been over these past (forgotten how many) years. |
