Ricardo LaborinGents,I'm on the prowl for a "TBR Approved" synth-stock for the Finnbear in .300WM, since the steep Monte Carlo sure knows how to slap!! Aside from the McMillan HTG, any other come to mind?? Saludos! |

Ricardo LaborinRe: Synthetic Stock for Sako L61R FinnbearGents, 2019 now!!Still keen on getting a synthetic on this rig, came across this McMillan "Tactical Hunter", slight twitches from the HTG (rounder forearm and checkering). I believe it would tame the .300 a bit better and provide ample gripping surface for both hands. Too bad HS doesn't make anything old-Sako. What say ye of the design?? From McM: "The Tactical Hunter is a hybrid of hunting and tactical stock designs. It is a modified version of our famous M40A1 HTG stock. The Tactical Hunter has a slightly wider, deeper and more rounded forearm. The forearm has a more pronounced slant on the bottom for height adjustments when used with bags or shooting sticks. This gunstock is a straight ambidextrous style that may be inletted and used both right and left-handed. It is available with or without an integral adjustable cheekpiece." Andrew MurrayRe: Synthetic Stock for Sako L61R FinnbearHow's the drop at the rear going to affect your shooting? Perhaps it might accentuate the felt recoil? |

IainRe: Synthetic Stock for Sako L61R FinnbearIf you are serious about the McMillan, you can get the standard HTG/M40 with or without the texture on the grip and forend. I have no idea whether or not they will inlet either for your Sako, but an email will give you a quick answer,The paint that McM use gives plenty of grip without the texture (for me) I have a standard HTG and the forend is quite rounded, yet flat in the centre and not tactical square and angular at all. I haven't properly fitted it to my rifle yet, so can't comment on recoil, but I am pleasantly surprised at how versatile and comfortable it feels in various positions. |

IainRe: Synthetic Stock for Sako L61R FinnbearI forgot to add, that there are, IIRC, three Kiwi manufacturers of carbon fibre stocks. Depending on where you are, they could be worth contacting. |
