bryan longWhat's people's experience with Sako 75's? Looking at a secondhand one in 25-06 with a 22 3/4 inch barrel. seems 24 is ideal barrel length for this. It'd be for shooting Fallow and Sika inside 300 yards, 400 yards probably the max distance. Winds in Ireland tend to gust all winter ; ) Oh, and we can't reload in Ireland, we can't be trusted with explosives. P.S. Courier texted me to say my book collection will land today |

Nathan FosterRe: Sako 75 SSHi Bryan, the 25 is perfect for fallow.Regarding wind drift, the .25-06 is fast but it does actually suffer major wind drift. Even the very mild 7mm-08 at 2650fps has less drift however this is based on hand loads. When it comes to basic factory loads used out to ordinary hunting ranges, the .25-06 compares well to other offerings. Regarding the 75, the action is of a sound design. It was one of the early cost cutting iterations (by 2020 we may end up with a blow dart pipe on a walnut stock) but still follows fairly sound design principles. But of the barrels, Sako / Tikka do have problems from time to time making accurate barrels for this cartridge. Results can vary a great deal from rifle to rifle. So if possible, try to find out as much as you can about the rifle. In any case, you will soon have your books and will find find plenty more answers to these questions. |

bryan longRe: Sako 75 SSGot my books today. I had the day off work and went in to work to collect them.I usually wouldn't go in on a day off to put a fire out.A few strange looks from all the women at work as someone opened the box. I was crying laughing on my way home. Theres some serious reading in them. Can't wait to get in amongst them. Thanks for speedy delivery, B |
