John D. Hays - New MexicoOkay, I just ordered this for $20 USD from Amazon with the idea of having a light-weight rear rest while shooting prone. Comments? https://benchmasterusa.com/benchmaster-weapon-rack-x-block-shooting-rest |

Andrew MurrayRe: Hunting Rear Rest - XBlockI am using a leg of set of jeans which is filled with 2 other pairs of jeans and sown shut. Doubles well as a pillow. |

Warwick MarflittRe: Hunting Rear Rest - XBlockIf I'm in a hurry nothing. Prone in the field backpack at the front and jacket, hat or binocular bag for the rear only if needed. At the Range or bench Denim jean legs sewn up with catlitter/sand/grain inside as a shooting bag rest. Like the books say. Transferable skills |

Paul LevermanRe: Hunting Rear Rest - XBlockLooks interesting, John. What is is made from? Is it soft/pliable/firm? Does it fit well in the shoulder/armpit? |

Paul LevermanRe: Hunting Rear Rest - XBlockSorry, too early, no coffee. I see now you said you just ordered it. Followed the link and watched the vid. Looks huge, not sure how that would fit. Keep us posted. |

John D. Hays - New MexicoRe: Hunting Rear Rest - XBlockHi Paul, Amazon is pretty fast here. I will post a pic with a rifle as soon as it arrives. Methinks it is some kind of closed-cell foam. My interest is what I presume to be the extreme low weight and in-field repeatability (vs. my dirty socks, one inside the other, with stuffing in dirty underwear as a last-ditch option). If it doesn't work I plan to put it on the shelf with my X-Men figurines. |
