David KoppI'm working on a Rem sps tact. 308. Set up is b/c stock (no bedding yet), timmey trigger, and sightron scope. I have gone through the steps and after the first firing was amazed of the tight grouping that the gun was giving me. I give much graditude to Nathan and all that share here. My issue is I'm finding the cases are getting scratch or gouge from the magzine and notice a heavy bolt push to chamber a round. Has anyone come across this or lead me to a thread if already posted.thank you |

Hamish GibbsRe: Gouged CasesHi David the underside of the mag/mag box metal feed lips are sometimes rough/sharp from manufacture. If you put your pinky down inside the lips into the mag and feel the underside of the lips whete the case slides against you will get an idea. If sharp they need to be filed, light sand or buffed depending on severity just enough to smooth not remove to much metal.Could be it? Let us know someone here will have other potentials. |

David KoppRe: Gouged CasesThx Hamish, I found the mag box to be fine, yes there is some sharpness to it. When I looked closer the shells were binding on the lips of receiver opening. I sanded and lightly dremeled the rails. I got it to where there was a light to faint scratch and shells were loading well and left it like that. Because, to nervous to go more and sand the wrong angle. In time will be searching for a detachable clip system.Hope this makes sense to everyone. Take care |
