IainLooking at buying a new 308 barrel for 308Win, and am on the fence between 3G and 5R.I have had good accuracy and velocity from a couple of 3G, but have always been attracted to the possible ease of cleaning the corners between the lands and grooves on the 5R. I understand the possibilty of 5R reducing stress on jackets, but don't think that is a consideration with a 308. I like the fact that on either, no two lands are directly opposite, so although many factory barrels seem to be 4G, I will stick with either 3 or 5. There is probably no definitive answer to this, assuming equal production quality, but would appreciate any input |
