David GausepohlGreetings from Texas!I picked up a Remington 1903 Springfield action from a friend. He had already added a Montana 6.5 barrel, and it came with a nice wood stock, that needed inletting for the new barrel. However, the barrel is a 1-in-9" twist. So am I out of luck if I want to use 140gr ELD-Ms and the like? David G |

Scott StruifRe: 6.5-06 9 twistHi, David. The minimum recommended twist rate is just that - a recommendation. A bit of keyholing/tumbling can be a good thing if accuracy doesnt suffer. Ive shot long-for-caliber bullets where the barrel twist is 1-rev-per-inch slower than the recommendation, with no keyholing. Depends on the individual gun, load. |

David GausepohlRe: 6.5-06 9 twistScott, that's kinda what I thought based upon reading, and also one of Nathan's videos. I have 129gr and 140gr bullets already that I use in my 6.5X55. Experiments to follow. -David |
