Blackhawk Knoxx Compstock

I’m looking for a 308 rifle with a 20 inch barrel. Seems all the mfrs offer is pencil barrels or varmint barrels in that length. I’ll probably have to settle for a 22” barrel, which is close enough. A guy within driving distance of me has a Howa 22” sporter for sale. Problem is, it’s in a Blackhawk Knoxx Compstock stock. He says the stock is a modified Hogue full-length aluminum bedding block stock, the modification being Blackhawk’s springy-thingy recoil absorption system. Why anyone would need such a device on a 308 is anybody’s guess. Has anybody tried one of these stocks? Blackhawk doesn’t make them anymore, which may or may not reflect their utility.

Re: Blackhawk Knoxx Compstock
Apparently the stock was manufactured by Hogue, with Blackhawk’s device built into it. The list price was >240USD, but there’s a couple on EBay for $80, for the M700 and M70, new in the original packaging, so I think I answered my own question: Junk.
