Suppressor poi change.

Hi all. Okay just putting this on as a bit of a discusion. I have a an ex m38 Husqvarna Mauser,(6.5x55) I've full length bedded it into a boyds walnut stock, had a timney trigger fitted(2 1/4lb pull), a bolt job to lower the scope onto decent rings, alow swing safety added, and, recently a dpt suppressor fitted. All this makes it a joy to shoot and has closed the groups from around 3" to 1/2" at my best effort so far. So I was at the range last night and tried to get the difference of poi with and without the suppressor. I was surprised to get a 5" @100yrds to the left difference without the suppressor!
Now what do you reckon? Bodged the bedding job? (it was my first and not perfect). Barrel harmonics? Recoil difference? Flinch?(maybe). It really doesn't matter because I will zero for the suppressor and use it like that. I'm just curious as to why it would pull left and not vertically as expected. Your thoughts?

Re: Suppressor poi change.
PS:forgot to mention the barrel is free floating, nothing touching till about an inch from the action.

Hi Guy, under recoil, a right hand shooter will follow recoil to the right, this is quite common. If recoil is reduced, the rifle will shoot to the left. But in the case of suppressors, changes in POI are not simply a case of reduction in recoil, the POI can shift anywhere.

I have tested this on several client rifles and found that the POI shift is quite random. In one test, there was no change in POI, in another, the POI was 6" right and 6" high with just a half turn loose. Barrel harmonics are certainly a factor. There may also be pressure factors at play.

Please be vigilant when using your suppressor as per my first book. If the suppressor is not given due respect, it is no more than a delayed fuse pipe bomb.

Cool! That could be part of it, I am right handed. Yep I re-read the section on suppressor's in your book before making the decision to get one. I know you're not a huge fan of them, but this one works for me and what I do. Easy to clean, light weight, well made. Btw I lent your book to a mate-bastard wont return it. Is there a better recommendation than that?!! Haha!
