Scott Struifhttps://www.remington.com/core-lokt-tipped.htmlI just ran across this. Looks like a flat-base projectile with a polymer tip. The 180 grain 308 cal went from a BC of 383 to 480. Thats more than I would have thought. |

David LenziRe: New marketing ploy? This was arguably long overdue for a "cheap and easy" improvement (funny how those rarely are).To your point, the BC is a significant improvement, but not particularly impressive. For example - Plain old Sierra Gameking - .501 claimed G1 https://www.sierrabullets.com/product/30-caliber-7-62mm-180-gr-sbt/ 175 TMK - .545 claimed G1 https://www.sierrabullets.com/product/30-caliber-7-62mm-175-gr-tmk/ 180 TGK - .515 claimed G1 https://www.sierrabullets.com/product/30-caliber-180-gr-tgk/ 180 Speer JSP - .540 claimed G1 https://www.speer.com/bullets/rifle_bullets/boat-tail_rifle_bullet/19-2052.html The big different on all of these is the boat tail. It will be interesting to see if the new Core-Lokt lives up to its claimed BC. |

Scott StruifRe: New marketing ploy?I dont know about cheap. They want $18 more for a box of 308. But, according to their velocity specs, the standard PSP is doing about 1950 FPS at 200 yards, while the new tipped version is doing that at 400 yards. So for someone like me who hunts mostly in the woods, with the occasion medium range shot, the new tipped version holds some appeal. But its all academic, as neither is available now anyway. |
