Sako L61R Bolt Guide Problem

Ricardo LaborinGents, I've had the bolt guide slide and lock the bolt of my Finnbear twice now (.300 WM mild loads), rendering it unhuntable with for now. My Gunsmith says that this bolt guide serves aesthetic purposes and the rifle is 100% safe to operate without it, having tricked down 3 or 4 with the same troubles in the past this way.Do any of you have experience with this?
