Here’s Hornady’s extended discussion of the 7mm PRC.

They designed a cartridge specifically for their heavy 7mm bullets. Everybody knows they’re one-upping the 6.8 Western and 28 Nosler.

What was interesting to me is steps they go through to design a cartridge. Beginning about 44:00, their senior ballistician explains why they didn’t just neck down the 300 PRC. . . . If you don’t fill the case with powder, you can’t get consistent MV on uphill and downhill shots.

This is also the second time recently where they’ve discussed why “pressure signs” used by handloaders who load hot are exceeding safe pressure without realizing it.
