Hi Everyone,

I put together a. 308 a few years ago and set myself the goal to get as accurate as possible as cheap as possible.

I bought a secondhand remington 700 tactical, bedded it in a scratched up Bell and Carl's on stock, secondhand jewel trigger, sightron 3-10 X 40 illuminated and have a heavy Ase Utra northstar mod on it.
No bipod and shoots under 1/2 inch at 100 yards if I go easy on the coffee.
I thought it weighed 11 lbs, but when I weighed it it's around 14 or 6kg+

I can't reload in Ireland so will keep this. 308 to future proof myself.


Now I'm planning to build a 7mm 08 on a Borden Alpine action, 22 inch barrel 1-8.5 twist, with atlas bottom metal and MDT magazines.

Have choice of kreighoff 3 or 4 countour or Bartlein barrels 2B .

And a PSE carbon stock, their locally made, not especially lightweight but seem to handle recoil well.

And Nightforce NX8 F2 2.5-20x50mm SFP Illuminated or 3-10x 40, always seem decent secondhand prices.

Any thoughts or opinions to improve on this build welcomed. Particularly on best barrel.
