Tony MarascoBesides my ruger #1 issues,I have another.Well here goes-I am debating buying a desktop/benchtop cvc lathe--would like to experiment machining my own. This obviously is not a cost issue, but would enjoy the process,me thinks.Any machinists out there? |

Nathan FosterRe: machining your own bulletsIf you wan tto make bullets there are companies like Corbins which specialize in presses. There has been a real boom in this area lately with ammo shortage supplies. If you want an excuse to buy a small lathe, I guess you could use bullet making as an excuse but in truth, this work is best done on a CNC unit. manually adjusting your toolpost and crossfeed etc for each cut would be a nightmare after a handful of rounds. It would be so tedious. Still, that should not put you off a small lathe. try to get something with a decent diameter throat- very handy. |

GREGG FOSSERe: machining your own bulletsTony - if you get lucky and score a machine you could celebrate by going to the fabulous bar at the Brown Palace Hotel for a sumptuous meal and a brew. if you have an interest in a rockin' bar with live music check out the "Little Bear" in Evergreen, Colorado - just west of Denver in the mountains....... |
