Barry ShoneI have been searching for a left handed savage action to put together a 7 RM. Didn't find one but I did find a left hand Montana 1999 left hand action. I have assembled a savage rifle with the barrel nut system but don't know anything about the Montana action itself nor the availability of stocks, barrels etc.Nathan speaks well of them in the rifle book. I am inclined to give it a go. Any info/ advice? |

Barry ShoneRe: Montana 1999 actionThanks deerndingo. I did consider buying a complete rifle but decided that I am bored and in need of a project to work my brain a little. |

Nathan FosterRe: Montana 1999 actionGo for it Barry. Steph is a lefty too, her rifle has been a real gem, a keeper. I have in the past also used it for client work when long range shooting. |

Barry ShoneRe: Montana 1999 actionThanks Nathan. I have been searching around for stocks, barrels etc and am a bit worried about limited choices. I have read mention of Win. M 70 compatibility. Is this true and if so to what extent and what model model 70? |

Nathan FosterRe: Montana 1999 actionThe two are identical in their basic footprint Barry. The only difference is in the bottom metal. Hole spacing is the same but the style is ever so slighly different. The M1999 bottom metal is slightly thinner than my M70.You could either bed the underside of a Win stock or ask McMillan to make a stock for you. |

Nathan FosterRe: Montana 1999 actionActually, being a lefty, I would advise contacting McMillan. They have a solid step by step order process. |
