anyone had any experience with the howa fluted varmint, 24 inch barrel?

i was keeping an eye out for the plain varmint version but i've spotted a nice deal on a fluted one and am assuming the fluted would be just as good.

i basically want it as a 3-500 yard practice rifle.

i realise they only come in 1-12 twist and mag length is probably too short for the big a-max's which is a shame, but prehaps the 53gr v-max will suffice.

any thoughts appreciated, ben.
