G DogHi Nathan/All,Probably a silly question but I do love em as they tend to end up being answered well :) I run a .270 as my main rifle. Most people will see that the tips on there projectiles (the ones in the magazine) end up being flattened after the rifle has been fired due to the recoil. Now has anyone ever noticed whether this pushes the projectile further into the case? I don't have an OAL gauge so I've never checked myself? Cheers, Grant |

Nathan FosterRe: Projectes in mags after firingIt can do- all depends on neck tension. I have never been a fan of extremely light neck tension as per some target shooters. Big difference between a low intertia single shot target rifle and a high power hunting rifle. If the tips get really beaten up, just swipe them right off and use as bush loads. |

G DogRe: Projectes in mags after firingOn the money Nathan - 150 partitions. So happy you put me onto them.Anyway - I've no idea on neck tension. Using a Redding die. I only put 2 rounds in the mag and do mark the unfired rounds for closer shots as you ssy. I try to work on the therory that I should onky need 1 shot but as we know that doesn't always happen. Though in saying that, since the switch to partitions ive only ever needed one . |
