Thomas KitchenRe: collet die with no neck tensionthink its more a die problem as i can run case through die with out expander button in and it still wont close the neck with enough tension, as in push projectile in and out by hand. might need to take die back |

Barry ShoneRe: collet die with no neck tensionI had a similar experience. I now finish with a Lee factory crimp die and all goes well. |

Nathan FosterRe: collet die with no neck tensionIf the die came from reloaders Supplies, I would send it back for a replacement. Reloaders have a great back up service and Lee are always eager to please.Sounds like the collet cuts need to be a bit wider. |

Alvaro Piqueras Alonso-LambertiRe: collet die with no neck tensionHi Thomas;I will give you an advice that you maybe allready know... but I have seen this same problem before and it get sorted. I mean, it´s a basic advice, so don´t get me wrong... The LEE collet die need a god deal of force to work well. If this is the first time you are using it, maybe you aren´t applying enough. If I recall, LEE say 25 lb of torque? Well, it doesn´t matter... please give a good push at the end of the lever stroke, you have to move the lever after it contacts the die... If you have allready used this dies, forget my comment :) |

Thomas KitchenRe: collet die with no neck tensionbit embarrassing but ill tell you guys so no one else makes same mistake, after polishing die, greasing it and checking it was working in a vice, i didnt bother setting it up properly in press, manage to get it to work but needed a lot off force to do so. after going into reloaders supplies and getting told they would need some brass to check it, i decided i better check it when i got home. its seems to work fine when set up properly ( press lever at the bottom just off full stop/ die touching then one more turn) going to be bit awkward next time i go into reloaders supplies but at least i discovered my mistake |

Alvaro Piqueras Alonso-LambertiRe: collet die with no neck tensionNice to hear you fix it, Thomas! After all, this is what matters! This die is somewhat rare to use, but when you are set up it works prety well. Remember to gave the same amount of force to the lever, so neck tension remain constant. |

Nathan FosterRe: collet die with no neck tensionYep, who gives a flying frell if you stuff up. Its all learning. At least you came forwards and explained the mistake.I got to get this time stamp bug on the posts fixed too guys. Mike NeesonRe: collet die with no neck tensionI think we've all been there mate. They can be tricky buggers, but once you understand how they work and get them set up - gold. |
