Mario RibicicHi guys.Im trying to work out how to upload photos but my new phone isn't playing the game. Anyways my cz550 in 270 with 55gn of 2209 with 130 grain shot a group of 0.881" and 0.901" inch. Not sure of velocity. Primers look fine, bolt opens freely every time. Bullet seated at 86mm. My question is how much more can I go In terms of powder charge? I read somewhere from Nathan that 54 grains 2209 with 150gn is ok which is way over max load in Nick Harvey book. 49.5 max I think and in 130gn is 54.5 Its accurate but I'd like to acheive max performance from the caliber. |

Mike DavisRe: reloads 1st groupingevery rifle is different and many a great load has been ruined by a chronograph ...velocity isnt everythingfar better a accurate load going fast enough to deliver needed energy, than a teeth rattler risking life n limb that wont hold group/same poi |

Mike DavisRe: reloads 1st groupingalso if you have Nick Harvey manual you will already see even that great man who has reputation for hot loading will tell you speed isnt everything and trying to say you are at such n such pressure just by looking a primers is not accurate and different temperatures could push way over limit |

Thomas KitchenRe: reloads 1st groupingHi Marioif you got no pressure sign i would try slightly higher loads if your groups start to open then go back to fine tuning around 55gr. i went all the way up to 55gr in my 270 with 150gr bullets but sweet spot was around 52.5 gr that was .7 groups i left it at that. about to change projectiles so will have a play around bit more and try different powder i want to get it down to .5 groups. be careful and wear safety glasses |

Nathan FosterRe: reloads 1st groupingHi Mario. Velocity will be around 3000 to 3020fps. I have worked up to 57gr in the past as a normal part of testing but as others suggest, this may prove dangerous in your particular rifle. Thomas has the right idea. |
