Warwick MarflittHey guys. So we all have been hunting when it's raining and or snowing. What is your real life experience of shooting in the rain and how much it changes the bullet velocity and it's trajectory? The bullet must hit hundreds of rain drops as it gets down range.Thoughts gentlemen ? |

john feyereisnRe: Shooting in the rain?I have wondered this before as well, however, the few times i have shot in the rain at the range seemed to show little to no difference at 200 yds in accuracy or trajectory. You may well see a difference at long range but i ccan not verify it. |

Nathan FosterRe: Shooting in the rain?Hi Warwick. As far as I have been able to ascertain, the air pressure bubble ahead of the bullet prevents rain hitting the projectile.Truth is, I have never shot long range in the rain to verify because of the risks of a barrel bulge (water in the bore) and the difficulty seeing accurately out long when its raining hard. But I have laid under my poncho in the rain, muzzle taped, waiting for shots out to 300 yards, a pig comes along, pull the trigger, another bullet tested. I have yet to notice any effect. I don't shoot through tape when shooting way way out- haven't tested this either, just over cautious when doing long range work. |

Warwick MarflittRe: Shooting in the rain?Hey thanks for your time and knowledge. Makes sense about the pressure wave off the bullet pushing the water aside . Nathan I hope you where/n't talking like Rambo lying under the poncho.? Haha |
