Hi!

Take a look at the new Sako A7 Roughtech. looks like the action/recoil lug design is slightly different from the original A7. On the roughtech it looks like the recoil lug is a part of the action and not floating. Watch this video (forward to 22.00 min).

Any comments on the design?

It also comes in af Roughtech Range with another stock design and heavier barrel.

Re: Sako A7 Roughtech
Hi Jacob, the stock is much like the B&C stock for a Tikka T3 with the lug built into the stock.

The action has no lug, just a slot. It is basically a copy of the T3 without being a T3. Just another way to try and get costs down to that of Tikka rifle production while still charging a hefty fee for the Sako price tag- all driven by Beretta.

The fixed lug within the ali chassis can work, but it can also make bedding difficult. If a rifle needs to be bedded, the lug in the stock must be milled out, then a floating lug fitted as shown in our bedding instructions and as described in the books. This allows the lug to be aligned with the action.

The Accurizing book helps explain a lot of this and also offers quick temp to mid term fixes for those who wish to avoid bedding.

Thx Nathan - I'll consider the Roughtech as a Tikka T3 Deluxe with a good stock that needs modification.... ;-)
