Warwick MarflittFound this on the nett. A recoil for calibre chart with the rifle weights . Don't know how accurate it is as powder charge for bullet weights isn't included. However bullet weight and muzzle velocity in foots per seconds is included so I guess that the smarty pants among us can get a close idea of what that would roughly be.http://www.chuckhawks.com/subscribers/tables_charts_lists_page/recoil_table_exp.htm The .600 NE 900 grain pill with 154 lbs of boot....ahrr F@#k ouch! |

Nathan FosterRe: RecoilI used to use a recoil calculator when I was young but as the years passed and I tested rifles of the same caliber and same ammo side by side but with different stock styles, I came to realize that recoil calculators are no help in gauging felt recoil.Aside from that, I suppose the calculators do serve as a reference point of sorts. Just please don't buy into this too much. |

Bob MavinRe: RecoilHa haI agree Nathan. My mate has a little bush bashing 308 winchester, with a brass recoil pad that I hate shooting. Another mate has a 358 Norma, that's more recoil than I like. But 600 NE 900 grain pill?, not this little black duck Cheers Bob |

Sebastian ShandRe: Recoilyour right there nathan, stock style shape and weight seems to play the bigger role. shooting my sisters super lite kimber waste of space 7mm08 probably weighs less then the scope on top of it is dam horrible to shoot as far as recoil and barrel jumping around like a rabbit on cocaine, where is my 375 h&h mag cz 550 i could shoot all day long without a complaint |
