Michael RaynerRe: new ruger american rifle in magnumsBoo 3 shot mag, 24 inch barrel why can't they do a 26 especially for the 7mm. But apart from that I'm sure it will work adequately. |

Bryan WebsterRe: new ruger american rifle in magnumsNever did like their tang safety loction, and much preferred the one as in their Hawkeye models.Had a Ruger 7mm Rem Mag years ago when it was first available and did not like the safety then, nor the difficulty I experienced in trying to do a good job of bedding the action. I did get it shooting well under an inch at 100 meters though, after lots of fiddling with it. Never stayed with it however. Interesting development here with their new magnum model though, like the idea of their bedding. Still I think the low priced Remington 783 will be a better build as you can switch barrels much as one can do on the Savage rifles, and once you get them in a decent stock they really shoot. |

Nathan FosterRe: new ruger american rifle in magnumsThere have been some good things going on with this rifle design as far as budget rifles go. Still, Bryan has made (all) highly valid points. There is a possibility that the mags will be best suited to SAAMI length- may be a problem. Will have to wait and see. |
