Nathan FosterJust a heads up, there has been a new reamer floating around called the 7mm Practical Improved. This design is actually the 7mm Rem Mag but with the shoulder pushed back and with an improved shoulder. It is not my design yet some person has offered this as a reamer variant using the same name as mine which may confuse a lot of people. If anything, it should be called the 7mm Impractical. To avoid this trap, please be sure to order your reamer from David Manson reamers. The Manson reamer has the correct body geometry and with a throat geometry that enhances accuracy potential beyond common factory magnums and several wildcats. The point of this design was to make things easy for the smith and for the shooter with regards to both power generation and accuracy. The website article contains full information on the evolution of this cartridge with gunsmith notes. These reamers are batch produced and are therefore readily available. Those who want to use the short Rem Mag improved, please do not use my cartridge name with it as it will simply cause a dangerous situation. If the short cartridge is later on used in one of our long chambers from the correct reamer, the case will rupture and the gas may vent back into the shooters face if the gas handling system is not 100% sound. |

Andrew MurrayRe: 7mm Practical Improved total rubbishEspecially considering that it's a different parent case entirely...Even still I have seen what appears to be most people assuming that the Practical is just a simple neck down. |
