Caleb MayfieldRe: Scuptured mound of dirt for prone shooting instead of a table?I like it! I've been considering something similar with a couple spots on my family's farm. One location I can go from 100-340ish, and another location I can go from 175-450 if the crops are out.I do think the bench at 100 yards for the early baseline work is pretty important. |

Robert McLeanRe: Scuptured mound of dirt for prone shooting instead of a table?Honestly, I am more stable and patient for some reason from the ground then I am at the table. The tables, well specifically the seats that are chained to the tables could be better at our range. Or i guess my ass could be smaller... The point is, I like shooting prone off a backpack alot. Mud and snow is an issue though. I have a big mat but when it is wet that gets sketchy. If I could, I would have both with a better chair. |

Warwick MarflittRe: Scuptured mound of dirt for prone shooting instead of a table?Yes. a sheet of ply on the ground with bags is what I'm thinking for 100yard work? If it was my own farm Id invest in a covered shooting area with BBQ big screen tv with live target video link and water cooler....... " I can dream can't eye"? |

Thomas KitchenRe: Scuptured mound of dirt for prone shooting instead of a table?thought i would throw in my opinion in.i would spend lot of time and investment in a 100 yard range for testing, load development etc. but when it comes to the longer range targets, have a fixed setup can be good for building confidence specially in new shooters but if you shoot from the same position to the same target every time it becomes to easy and you loose a lot of the education out of it. having visited Nathan that's one thing he drills into you even plinking on the papa faces, you get one shot so you better make it count if you miss that's it from where your shooting, you don't get to walk shots on. like everything Nathan teachers you learn a lot. |
