Todd FreeRecently just bought a second hand Sendero in 7mm Rem Mag. With the plan to make it accurate for long range.Figured I would be replacing the barrel later, rather than sooner but.... Determining the COAL with 162gr Hornady ELD-M I have found the max to be: 3.544" (2.848" from ogive). Checked 6 times with Hornady COL tool, correct comparator etc and used a split case neck x 6 times. Hornady guide says max COL 3.290" Somebody asleep at the wheel during production and QC? |

Rob BirdRe: Dud Sendero?Seems long! With that same bullet, my Finnbear max COAL is 3.406 (touching the lands).Do you happen to have go/no-go gauges? I'm wondering if it just has a really long throat or if the actual headspace is off. |

Jonathan KittermanRe: Dud Sendero?Headspace on 7mm mag is off the belt. Just google up some pictures of one. I really doubt that is the problem.Have you tried a borescope? Remington may just have a long freebore |

Nathan FosterRe: Dud Sendero?Hi Todd, sounds like it is worn out. It may even have been fired rapidly.The typical average max oal for these rifles when new, with that bullet, is around 3.433". It is not a fault from Remington. the reamer they would have been supplied with, cannot be ground that far out of spec due to cnc settings. |

Todd FreeRe: Dud Sendero?I had it scoped this weekend.Previous owner claims 85 rounds total. Looking at the throat, I think the 85 were done in one go. Definitely strung together many rounds without adequate cooling and repeated the offence. Round count most likely 150+ Best group I could get was about 1" with Federal power shok 150's. |
