stephan bieganekHello, Nathan I was just wondering what powder you use to get the best results when shooting 168gr and 190gr matrix bullets out of the sendero 7mm RM. Also if you could give me a powder charge range that would be great. |

Nathan FosterRe: Best Powders for Matrix BulletsHi Stephan, the Matrix reach full pressure about 1 to .5 grains below that of other bullets. I put my powder charge rate test range in the second book for both bullets along with safety caveats as I often work above book max if the rifle has complimentary chamber dimensions. In short throated rifles, it pays to work with book maximums. This equates to a max charge of 63 grains H1000 behind the 190gr Matrix. My test range for the 168gr bullet is 69 to 73.5gr H1000. My test range for the 190 grain bullet is 66 to 69 grains H1000. My max loads will be dangerous in short throated rifles as explained in the book, The Practical Guide To Long Range Hunting Cartridges. The 69 grain / 190gr bullet load will also be a max or near max pressure in some long throated rifles. The above data tests the rifle to maximum pressures to establish full parameters. Set bullet jump at 20 thou. I generally use a standard primer but you can use a magnum primer if you wish. The Matrix are generally very easy to work with and produce outstanding accuracy in otherwise finicky rifles. I cannot condone any of the above loads for safety reasons. My test range is well above book maximum and is reflective of my own testing procedures. |
