MartyRe: berger hybrid target?Hi Rob,With "work" you can get these to perform to a reasonable standard, trimming and alike. l know these are not one of Nathans favorite proj's for your intended use! I think the Amax will get most of the votes here if you are extending the range on animals, which is why you would have built it l think. But in saying that, what ranges, which animals should be asked! Without being pushy all the answers you need about this cal & projectiles along with others you will find in Nathans cartridge book. A small investment! |

Rob Hughes-GamesRe: berger hybrid target?thanks for reply. i just happened to stumble onto 500 of them pretty cheap at midway usa. Happen to be in canada right now. I will likely get Nathans book when i get back to nz in november.reason im staying away from the amaxes right now is that i heard they were going to be cutting production. cant really believe that though as its too popular a line of projectiles. i also wanted to be in the 180gn range. need a 180 gr amax!!!. |

Jim MoseleyRe: berger hybrid target?I bought the Berger 95 gr hybrid to test in my little Savage 243. Loaded with IMR 7828, which was the only powder I had that was listed in the Berger manual, but was fairly accurate out to 500 yds. Anyway , I shot a 85 lb doe two weeks ago at 165 yds and she dropped in her tracks. No pics because I also dropped my Nikon D7100 ....ouch!! In for repairs. I'm down on the farm, but I think the load was 42.2 grs, and seated .010 off the lands. With a 22" barrel the MV is 2980. Good luck. |
