Rob Hughes-Gameshi guys.just been reading the books. and looking at the part about lapping lugs. i was wondering ifyou guys are lapping with the firing pin in? i get 100% contact with the trigger sear depressed but once the sear is engaged it pushes the back of the bolt up and so the top lug is not in contact. just wondering on peoples thoughts on this? |

Mike NeesonRe: lapping lugsHi Rob, looks like you don't need to lap the lugs then! Yes you are quite right, when cocked the bolt is forced up causing the top lug to lose contact. All lapping and further checks need to be done with the trigger pulled - it isn't necessary to remove the firing pin. I am presuming we are talking about a Rem700 action? |
