Gerry MoriartyI just ordered Mr.Fosters entire collection of books. I have been using Nosler 180gr accubonds in my .300WM Win. 70. I have been using this combination for the last seven year. Of the 9 big game animals I have taken ,only one had an off side exit wound. The one the had an exit wound was a moose shot broadside at 100 yards right behind the shoulder. The other 4 moose had been shot at rangers from300-350 yds. And roughly all broadside right behind the shoulder with no exit wound. The lack of an exit wound on a grizzly shot broadside at 250yds got me looking for reviews of the accubonds. That lead me to this site. What do others on the site think of the accubonds. |

Nathan FosterRe: The books and accubond bulletsHmm. This bullet can work very well but there are times where it is neither fish nor foul. The bonding can be too weak for optimal penetration at close ranges on large, tough animals. On the other hand, the bonding can also make the bullet too stout for long range low velocity work. But for more ordinary work on light to mid sized deer, the AB can be very useful. A good example of this would be the .270 cal 140gr AB. When driven as fast as the rifle will safely and accurately allow, this makes for a good fast killing load and can be considered quite useful for hunting out to traditional ranges of around 300 yards. I believe that the Cartridges book you have ordered will shed much more light on this. |
