Warwick MarflittHey guys. I'm looking to buy aSightron 6-24x50 SIII. I see them for sale in the USA on line and they're way cheaper than NZ prices . My question is how/who freights them to New Zealand. I see the US government has export restrictions on some things? Has anyone else brought one on here in New Zealand imported them? http://www.qualityoptics.net/siii-30mm-rifle-scope-siiiss624x50-lr-ffp-moa/ These guys are having a liquidation sale. ! |

Martin TaylorRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAI'm in oz but think it would be similar Warick. My SIII came from the opticzone sent on Fedex, fully insured and tracked. Had others from different stores through us postal service/aust post and they track them as well, all with no problems. The dollar was a lot better then but that is a bloody good price! |

I am going to try and get a mate in the states to call them and see if they are a legitimate company? I rang the NZ dealer yesterday and they have one for fifteen hundred. Warwick MarflittRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAHey guys. After Some searching here's what I have found out about Quality optics.http://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/qualityoptics.net I don't think it is a scam just someone who has gone out of business? So no cheap scopes to be had there. Thanks for the replies and information. |

Warwick MarflittRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAWith the exchange rate at 1.34 freight and taxes and duties it's about the same price so I may as well just buy off the importer and be done with it. I have probably spent 8hrs looking for a good Sightron deal on line. Oh well at least I have done my research. The only way to get one cheap is if it was brought by a family member living in that country and then posted as a gift. Thanks guys. |

Warwick MarflittRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAHey guys. When you import to New Zealand if your item is over $1000 you have to have an import license number. You have to fill out a form and Customs/Big Brother then allocates you a number. It is only valid for 2 years and the fine print says that they can share your information with whoever they like. Hope to have my SIII next week. Don't you hate being like a sheep with a numbered tag so the farmer can monitor your weight and keep you inside the fence? Or sell you when you are fat enough. The loops and flaming hoops are getting closer together oh well I had better submit and be a good slave. |

Andrew DobbinRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAHi WarwickI've just got a couple of questions for you as my S111 from 4Scopes is being shipped by Fedex and is in auckland with "Clearance Delay" on the tracking info: Did you have to contact FEDEX (or Customs) to arrange the paper work or did they contact you? and How long did it take to get everything sorted so that your scope was on its way? Thanks Andrew |
@ 10:52 am (GMT) |
Warwick MarflittRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAHey Andrew. FedEx rang me and emailed me the forms to fill out. It's not a major deal just the government keeping a track on what comes into the country for gst and import duties. You will have to provide addresses passport number contact phone numbers email, date of birth. The guy's at FedEx are really good to deal with. I went to Internet cafe printed out the forms filled them out scanned and emailed back to FedEx with a copy of my passport. I am now waiting for it to be processed. I am expecting customs to want me to pay GST and then they will clear it and FedEx will deliver . I am excited about getting it.4Scopes will have emailed you a tracking number on the email page there's a FedEx tracking link click on it and it will open it says that it is delayed but it will change as it leaves the us goes to Hawaii and on to Auckland where it says it is delayed for clearance again. That's when FedEx NZ will contact you. Good luck with it all. Cheers Warwick |

Bob MavinRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAG'day guys.I bought mine from http://www.theriflescopestore.com I didn't have to do anything, cost $887au delivered. Cheers Bob |
@ 01:28 am (GMT) |
Warwick MarflittRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAHi Bob I see you quoted $887 Au. Here in Godzone NZ anything valued over $1k has to have an importers license. Our Woeful leaders want to keep the Citizens of the land in check so they can tax us for every penny they can. Hence why yesterday the NZ Politicians all got a 5% pay rise!!! With the exchange rate the USD $788.88 I paid4Scopes became NZD $ 1057.09 I Got pipped by $57.09 :(So when 15% GST is added we pay $1215.65 NZD. Bah bah baahhhhhhhh! We are treated like Sheep and farmed by our government. More more more is all that they really want? They are selling everything to China putting wages down and the power n telecom companies that they sold and/or privatized keep putting their prices up. All our farms are sold to off shore companies or the Chinese! House prices are beyond the average Kiwis means! Our rivers are flowing with cow shit and fertilizer runoff. The forests are full of 1080 poison to kill everything! The Army's off to train Iraq how to kill its enemies, We have no air force and at night I have to listen to a F#%*&en Chinese made train haul freight out of town! We used to build our own? It seems the slippery slopes getting steeper and slipperier!!!! End of rant! But in a few days I'll have my brand new SIII....... ; ) Don't you just love our first world problems? NZ 100%PURE. |

Andrew DobbinRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAThanks for the info WarwickFedEx contacted me today re customs no. It was great to know the procedure before I had to do it. I didn't have to do any thing like this for the Boyds stock I put on my old Mauser, it just Showed up on the rural delivery van. Me s111 plus rings and bases came to $950 US So about 1300 kiwi with bloody gst Can't wait to get my hands on it though. Will be a big upgrade on the old 3-9 VX1 Thanks again |

Andrew DobbinRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAI can't believe how inept our customs system is.Just got issued importer code for Andrew Dobbie, Not Andrew Dobbin, after writing it on the form 3times and Having to copy my passport No wonder we have problems like fruit fly. Although the guy on the phone changed it really quickly and was Very apologetic. Baa baa baa |

Thomas KitchenRe: Buying Sightron SIII from USAthere is ment to be a new rifle test going on for nz army isn't there? i think it we will end up with an AR platform rifle, im an ak person myself but one thing i think that could be done with modern cnc machine would be nz made rifles under licence ( odd idea giving nz jobs i know). sorry warwick way way off topic, bet your like a kid at christmas waiting for your scope |
