Ben LawHas anyone used the burris posi-align rings on aluminium bases?I'm looking to increase cant by about 15moa. I have always used aluminium rings on aluminium bases. Are steel rings likely to chew into the aluminium and come loose? |

Bryan WebsterRe: Burris Posi-align rings on alloy base?Less the idea of it causing physical damage and more the concept that corrosion becomes an issue between the two metals. I have always went steel to steel and doubt I will ever do anything different. The only time I saw aluminum rings and bases that made sense to me was on a Ruger 10/22 which has an aluminum receiver. |

Bryan WebsterRe: Burris Posi-align rings on alloy base?By the way Ben, I have a 20 moa steel Farrell picatinny rail and steel Burris rings on my .308. They work but I have no need for the extra cant in them, Burris makes a new set of rings that seem to me to be better called the XTR Signature rings, and I figure they are aluminum alloy. If you put a EGW aluminum rail on your rifle these rings would do you well.http://www.burrisoptics.com/mounting-systems/rings/xtr-signature-rings |

Martin TaylorRe: Burris Posi-align rings on alloy base?I have these rings on both and had no problems Ben, never came loose or lost zero when fitted following Nathans instructions. The couple of alloy 2 piece base sets we have are covered with a black coating(?) and this has not worn off. Nathan has also recommended an EGW alloy base with these ring sets to me for a Tikka we had if needed. |

Warwick MarflittRe: Burris Posi-align rings on alloy base?Hey Ben. Dan at Reloader's sold me an EGW 20 MOA Alloy base and Signature z rings looks to be well made. As long as you insulate or bond the dissimilar metals and keep it clean and lightly oiled it shouldn't be a problem. Aluminium and copper don't mix well though. Add salt water and you have a battery! |
