Bob MavinHi All.Over the last week or so, I've just finished sighting in and testing a new scope I bought, 2-10x42 Tract Toric. I'm very impressed. It cost me $905 delivered here to Australia. The glass is perfect,. great in low light even at 10x power, 4" eye relief. The turrets track perfect & come back to zero every time. My other two scopes are NXS Nightforce, the Tract scope seems better to look through! Tract optics can only be bought from the manufactures, no middle men. My mate built me a 243 win on a Remington Mohawk action 25" Heart 1:8 twist barrel, most loads are grouping less than .5 moa it's a top outfit!! Ken Noye in Victoria made a great laminated stock for me (he does his own laminating & can copy any stock you want) Ken makes stocks for a lot of the top comp shooters, mine cost $350 and fitted perfectly. Check out www.tractoptics.com I'm very happy. Bob |

Bob MavinRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeI forgot to mention.I finished my stock with Z-Poxy Finishing Resin. It came up really nice, easy to use, just rub it on and keep spreading it. I put about 8 coats on then took the shine back with fine steel wool lubed with a bit of Lanox spray |

Phil Van ZuylenRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeInterested to read about this as I quite like the look of the Tract scope in its various models can you tell me did you get the T pled reticle? |

Bob MavinRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeI went with the TORIC UHD 2-10x42 BDC reticle, I can still dial up with the turrets. This rifle is used mainly for culling spotlighting out to 300yds.The TORIC UHD 3-15x50 T-Plex would be great on my 30-06 |

Bob MavinRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeThe scopes come supplied with taller uncovered zero stop turrets that are easier to see and adjust if doing longer range work. They're incredibly clear lenses and nice positive audible click to the turrets. |

Phil Van ZuylenRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeThanks Bob was it easy to arrange shipping out of the US ? |

Phil Van ZuylenRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeForgot to ask are the adjustments true 1/2 moa ? |

Bob MavinRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeno trouble with delivery and the adjustments are perfect.they supply it with a large target set out in 1" squares to test the turret adjustments. Mine came back to zero after walking my shots all over the page, perfect. There's a lot of info on the site. Also lifetime waranty |

Thomas KitchenRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopehi Bobi had a read of their site looks very interesting. i have the 2-10x32 s tac which is a nice hunting scope be very interesting to compare the two. i did notice tract only offer standard plex and bdc type reticle, i do wonder if they have plans to add anymore? i hold off for wind so the current reticles don't suit me but that's about only thing i picked up on. the rifle you built sounds very nice indeed, the mohawk action always reminds me of the p14 action maybe its the bolt handle that does. have you notice any velocity gains with the 25" barrel? thank you for posting about the scope ill be keeping an eye on them for sure |

Bob MavinRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeHi Thomas.I'm very impressed with the scope. this is not a long range rifle, general hunting, spotlighting, I don't have any problem dropping Fallow out 400 odd yds. I agree, I'd prefer an MOA reticle but Now I'm used to it BDC reticle it's good. Change your sight in distance to match how you want the reticle to work There's a good ballistic program on their site. I'm loading Hornady 100gn Interlock 2" high at 100yds drops 5" at 300yds . Tact scopes are a good concept, no middle men&retailers jacking the price up. You can only buy direct off the guys at Track. My other scopes are NXS Nightforce, these Tract scopes are very oood |

Bryan WebsterRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeThanks for the posting on the Toirc rifle scopes Bob.I was looking over the specs on their web site, and although I don't know how precise they tested the Tric scopes for temperature tolerances, but they stated that the limits of the Operating Temperature Range158°F to -1.4°F I would hardly want to be out in +158 degree F weather, however this winter we had several spells where the temperatures were -25 F (or -35 or so C) when I shot a small pack of wolves as well as some coyotes. Without knowing if they had a facility to test these lower temperatures on their scopes I would want some assurances as to these tolerances as stated up here in Northeastern BC. Temperatures this weekend are holding around -20C to -25C. |
@ 04:58 pm (GMT) |
Bryan WebsterRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeI should also note that very few manufacturers show the above temperature tolerances for scopes at all. I have in the past, asked trusted local dealers for advice on this. some older models I have worked well, however one never knows about the newer ones, and even if they have good warrantees, I would not appreciate scope failures while out hunting, so even if I like something about a new scope, I normally hold back until I am sure they are up for it...or pay top dollar for pricier ones that will not fail. |

Bryan WebsterRe: Tract Toric 2-10x42 scopeGot a reply already from the Co-Founder of Trac Optics:Hi Bryan, The listed operating temperature is a guideline. The scope will still function under much lower conditions, but things like the magnification ring and quick focus eyepiece may be stiffer to turn under conditions below the operating temperature listed. The colder temperature will not affect the scopes ability to withstand recoil. Thanks, Jon LaCorte Co-Founder TRACT Optics |
