Stuart TalbotQuick question here. It's been quite a while since I bought a new scope. So, I bought a Sightron STAC with a 50mm objective. It's going on a Sendero, with a Nightforce one piece base, 0 MOA. What height rings do I need? High? I can't remember what height I've got on my other rifles, and I know none of them are wearing scopes with a 50mm bell. I'm going with Burris Posi-Align rings. |

Stuart TalbotRe: RIng HeightTo be even more specific, the rings will be the Zee rings. And even though the objective is rather large, I'm trying to keep the scope as low as I can (which is why I've always avoided the 50mm and up objectives). |

Nathan FosterRe: RIng HeightHi Stuart, you will need the medium height but may still need to remove a divot out of the rear base (or flatten off) depending on its exact thickness. This is due to the extra wide power ring on this unit. The zoom ring can clash with a base by a few thou- but not always, again depending on the base. I prefer to do this than to use high rings for the reasons you have already stated. |

Kenneth KephartRe: RIng HeightI have the STAC 4-20X50 on a "custom" Mauser.I'm using EGW 20 MOA solid base and Vortex Viper low rings. I use the low rings due to the EGW base being so tall. I have had no issues with interference with the low rings. |

Kenneth KephartRe: RIng HeightThought i would update my original post.I signed up for a 600 yard match. Used my Stevens 200 in 7mm-08AI. Put my STAC on a Weaver solid base with Warne low fixed rings. Only issue i had was magnification ring slightly interfering with base. Note i had the scope moved forward for shooting in the prone position. Sanded down the 2 most rearward "ears" on the base. No other interference issues. |
