David KoppI recently bought 2007 s2 big sky 3-12x40 and found out the models before 2012 were calibrated in inches and then moa after that. Im wondering if this is true? I havent been to the range yet. Either way, I will enjoy using it. Only down fall I came across s2 6.5-20x50 after buying this one.Take care |

Nathan FosterRe: Sightrons calibrationHi David, from memory, the calibration in those earlier models was closer to MOA than inches regardless of what was stamped on the turret. They were good to about 600 yards. If I recall correctly, the error was only a couple of inches at 650 yards when using them as an MOA scope. This was OK for a rifle expected to shoot no further than these ranges if a guy did not want to do any math conversions. Having said this, you should always check the calibration at 100 yards, take nothing for granted regardless of the brand. The SII 6.5 model also had inches on the turret in those days but was dead true to MOA. |
