dnz game reaper 1 piece mount - 20moa shim?

Ben Lawthese mounts seem like a good solid mount for a budget build.but they only come in a flat base (0 moa), i'm thinking they would work fine with an aluminium can shim to give it some cant. intending to use this on a howa 223. is there any reason i should not try this? |

Nathan FosterRe: dnz game reaper 1 piece mount - 20moa shim?Hi Ben, I have come across this type before under another logo- very similar form. The cross section is wide enough that the alloy will maintain strength. The only point to be careful of it to not over torgue the ring screws. Ali is softer than carbon steel so the threads can be stripped easily. Just watch your torque settings and you should be fine. |

Nathan FosterRe: dnz game reaper 1 piece mount - 20moa shim?Sorry- epoxy above and below your shim. You may need two shims. All depends on how the receiver was finished. Assemble with shims but no epoxy and check- bore sight at 100 yards (can do this at home if you have a clear view of a sign post etc). If the canty is correct, refit with epoxy, laminating as need be. |
