Gary KeenHi There, I thought I might share a small project I have been working on this week. I decided I wonted a very quick way to dial up ranges. What I came up with was to make my own stick on turret for my trijicon scope. I designed the system with Corel draw. I started by measuring the diameter of the turret and then calculating the circumference. I could then produce an exact scale for the design. I then drawed the MOA digits in white followed by the range to dial in for my Berger vld in yellow. You then can just turn your turret to the exact validated range. I have also some red marks to show the range for my sst loads up to 600 yards. The top line in yellow numbers corresponds with the come up line on the scope to give extended ranges. The good part is I can redraw this now very quickly for any new load development. Now I suppose I better get out and see if it works! |

Gary KeenRe: custom turret home made.I thought I should point out that this is for those times when you dont have time to pull out your charts or cell phone. This would only be suitable for flat shooting as the trajectory would need to be recalculated for those up or down hill shots. I think I might redesign this by removing the longer distance digits and replacing with 3 different angle calculations. |

Matt ReidRe: custom turret home made.Looks good Gary. I had thought about this myself a few times. How did you adhere the label to the turret? |

Gary KeenRe: custom turret home made.I have printed on to a adhesive labbel for this one. At the moment ill just wrap with cellotape to protect. Once i'm happy with design ill paint a clear silicon rubber over the whole label. |

Gary KeenRe: custom turret home made.Yes it dose take a little time and know how to draw this up with a graphics program,But if any one wonted id be happy to draw them up a custom turret in exchange for the cost of packet of projectiles. The main thing is to have a validated range data that you know 100 percent is right for your rifle. |
