Ricardo LaborinDear TBR Forum Dwellers,I went ahead and bought a NF as described in the subject, intended for a .300WM, only now undecided on which rifle to place it atop: Contender 1 - New Dakota 97 Alaskan Guide .300WM, Burris posi-align rings, rifle only weight 8lbs. I'm still not reloading and will use Federal blue box 180gr Hot Cor's and Hornady 180gr SST (SF). Contender 2 - Trusty Rem 700 Custom Mountain KS .270 Win, Burris posi-align rings, rifle only weight 7lbs. Will use Hornady 140gr SST (SF). Hunting Conditions: - Northwester Mexico steep hills and some mountainous terrain - Distance of up to 500/600 yards (with tons of practice) - Typical Game from 50lb javelina up to 300lb Aoudad (which are fcking tough - like Tahr I believe) - Rifle will be used in international hunting for Kuban Tur (Russia) and Red Deer/Tahr (South Island NZ). - Other Scope I own is a Swarovski 4-15x50 with the rail thing (teeth downstairs). Which one would you place it atop and why?? Grateful in advance for the help. Saludos from Mexico!! Ricardo. |

Bryan WebsterRe: Atop which rifle to place a NF NXS 3.5-15x50???That is a great scope. Personally my choice would be based on which rifle I am most likely to do the most hunting with. Your other scope is nice as well.I would be more likely to grab the .270 due to its lighter weight for hunting in country such as you have described. |

Ricardo LaborinRe: Atop which rifle to place a NF NXS 3.5-15x50???Thank you guys. My intuition tells me it will sit well with the .300, balancing more of the weight and damping recoil. I'll report back soon!Saludos. |
