Sightron SIII Elevation Turret setting question.

I apologize in advance this topic already been discussed, but I might miss something with my Sightron setting.

I bought a new Sightron SIII LRMD/CM and went today at the range to setup my
elevation and windage turrets to 0 (at 100 meters with a 20MOA base). The problem is with my elevation turret, I had to set my 0 from the middle of the turret adjustment! I couldn't put back the turret to the bottom and reset it to 0 so I could get more turns or clicks to shoot to shoot longer distances.

Am I just being noob or missing something there? or it is just the way Sightron optics are made?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Johnathan
Not sure what you mean. They don't have zero stop, meaning you can adjust below zero.
Do you have the 20 moa base around the wrong way?
Cheers

Ya sorry, I'm having a hard time explaining it... If you check under both knobs, you can numbers starting from the bottom, 3 then 2 , 1 and 0 meaning that each turrets or knobs can be turned a full 360 degrees 4 times. I was just wondering if it's normal that when I was unscrewing the knob so I can reset to 0 I couldn't turn it back to the bottom of the turret (number 3) so I can have 4 full turns of my elevation for long distance shooting.

is it more clear ? Or I lost you even more? lol

i know what you mean jonathan my night force scope is the same. I'm pretty sure you can't set it back down flush with the bottom again. which means after dialing in a target and you wind it back to zero you have to remember what number it is set to.

Exactly! Oh well, I guess it must be normal if it's on the nightforces too. Aside from this, it really is a nice optic. Love it!

i know what you mean , i was confused when i first got my sightron.
i think some models have zero stops other don't so you just have zero it on turret and remember what number its on.
i think i saw on one of nathan's pictures he writes it on something like masking tape and sticks it on inside of scope cap.
or you can put it on drop chart.
i need to re check my zero as i forgot what number its meant to be on

I taped my wind-age so it can't move and use the mill dots, I was often moving it off zero, rubbing on my back I think.
I machined up an aluminium spacer to go under the elevation turret to give me zero. I don't have to look just wind down till it stops. Saves me digging out my glasses.
It's a bitch getting old but better than the alternative!!!! :)
